Modeling and simulation of flow–osteocyte interaction in a lacuno-canalicular network

چکیده

Osteocytes are bone cells that can sense mechanical cues (stress and strain) respond by releasing biochemical signals direct remodeling. This process is called mechanotransduction which, in osteocytes, not well understood yet because vivo studies have proven difficult due to the complexity inaccessibility of flow–osteocyte lacuna-canaliculi system. While silico (modeling simulation) become powerful, currently computational for system often omit fluid–structure interaction (FSI) between cell surrounding fluids. To investigate role FSI osteocyte mechanotransduction, we introduce a two-dimensional coarse-grained integrative model lacuno-canalicular network. The uses lattice Boltzmann immersed boundary framework incorporate flexible (membrane, cytoskeleton, cytosol), its processes, interstitial fluid, rigid extracellular matrix encases One major result our stress strain tend attain their local maxima near regions where processes meet membrane main body.
